Hearing Aid Reviews: Rechargeable Hearing Aids

Non-Rechargeable Button Batteries

As the design and capability of hearing aids evolve with modernity, so are the battery cells that they use. Traditional hearing aids often use mercury battery cells, a non-rechargeable electrochemical battery. However, it has been banned in a lot of countries because of its mercury content which has adverse environmental consequences.

At present, hearing aids are usually designed to use button cell or zinc-air batteries. These are non-rechargeable and usually last around 1 to 14 days. These types of batteries are small, safe, and economical compared to other batteries; which make them perfect to use in small hearing devices.

While the button cell is already satisfactory, rechargeable battery for hearing aids is still a newer innovation that is a lot cheaper and easier to use. Right now, a rechargeable hearing aid is a rare find, but is getting a considerable increase in market demand.

One good thing about having a rechargeable hearing aid is that you don’t have to change tiny batteries every now and then – which is quite frustrating feat and a bit costly. Rechargeable batteries can be used for months to years before replacing them.

Bionic Rechargeable Hearing Aid

A good example of a rechargeable hearing aid that works is the Bionic hearing aid. This brand has had a lot of good customer reviews in Amazon. This tiny digital BTE (behind-the-ear) hearing aid is very rarely found in the market today, but is getting a lot of followers, especially with Lee Majors as its endorser. Its inexpensive price relative to other hearing aid types is also quite appealing. The Bionic hearing aid’s rechargeable batteries can be plugged into a convenient carrying case, which is then plugged into any available outlet. Size AAA batteries can also be used to recharge the hearing aid batteries in case no outlet is available. This hearing aid is very convenient for the person who travels a lot.

Axon Rechargeable Hearing Aid

Apart from the Bionic hearing aid, there are also other hearing aid brands that have already introduced their rechargeable hearing aids. One is Axon which has unveiled its rechargeable ITE (in-the-ear) hearing aid. This hearing aid model uses a rechargeable Li-Ion battery and comes with a charger which is just like a cell phone charger.

There are more available rechargeable hearing aid brands that are sold worldwide.  You can get an invisible hearing aid such as the ITE and ITC (in-the-canal) hearing aids. You can also get a wired or non-wired model, depending on your choice. Some may be a lot cheaper than the Bionic or Axon hearing aids. However, at all times, it is always good to be cautious about the hearing aids that you are going to purchase. Price is not always a deciding factor. In the end, the quality of the product should always be the user’s priority.
